On Wednesday 16 August, we at Sentinel Marine were delighted to welcome guests onboard Portland Sentinel. Managing Director for Statoil in Aberdeen, Hedda Felin, along with Hywind Operations Manager, Halvor Hoen Hersleth, partner Masdar, and media teams from the BBC, STV and Sky Arabia.
The Portland Sentinel departed Peterhead for a short trip to
Hywind, a world first; Statoil’s inaugural floating windfarm off
Peterhead. Sailing to the windfarm took
little over an hour and as we approached the five turbines, their enormity was
clear to see. At almost twice the height
of Big Ben, each turbine stands some 180m clear of the sea.
The team at Sentinel Marine is very proud that Statoil has chosen Mariner Sentinel and Portland Sentinel to provide Multi Role and Emergency Response and Rescue Services at their flagship offshore Mariner Field development, and look forward to many more opportunities to share events onboard the vessels with the ships’ crews.
The event completed just before 5:00pm with everyone departing the ship safely in Peterhead and the media teams especially pleased as they’d just manage to stream their reports in time for that all important evenings news.
A great day onboard - well organised, safely executed and thoroughly enjoyed by all.
